HSE/EVE GHIS – Specialised Training Service
We are a training centre providing comprehensive, supported and certified computer training and general education to people with a wide range of disabilities.
We deliver vocational training on behalf of SOLAS and ETB (formally FAS).
Vocational training involves skills training to certification level for individuals who have expressed preferences for a particular skill area.
The programme incorporates a strong career planning component with an emphasis on work preparation in addition to personal development and social skills modules:
Students with no experience of computers and the internet commence by completing the ICS Equalskills course. It covers basic computer skills and is an introduction to desktops, documents, using the internet and email.
The New ECDL is a means of indicating that you have acquired the basic skills to use a computer in a wide variety of modules, each module provides a practical programme of up-to-date skills and knowledge areas, validated by a test.
Students learn how to author and design a website from the basics using HTML5 and CSS3, upload and maintain the website as well as creating graphics for logo’s and website layout.
Student becomes competent in core computer hardware and operating technologies. This includes installation, configuration, diagnosing, preventative maintenance and basic networking.
