WRAP® – 2 Day Course in EVE

WRAP Course – What the participants thoughts are about it …

What is Wellness Recovery Action Plan® (WRAP)?

WRAP® works! It has been developed by a group of people who experience mental health and other health and lifestyle challenges. These people learned that they can identify what makes them well, and then use their own Wellness Tools to relieve difficult feelings and maintain wellness and a higher quality of life. The result has been recovery and long-term stability. Your WRAP® program is designed by you in practical, day-to-day terms, and holds the key to getting and staying well. It does not necessarily replace traditional treatments, but can be used as a compliment to any other treatment options you have chosen.

WRAP® session in Brú Chaomhín

The WRAP® session took place in Brú Chaomhín on Wednesday 10th and Thursday 11th September 2014. There were 10 people in the group. It was organised by Rose Jones and Kristin Wilson from the Slanú team and Catherine Dooley, a member a staff in GHIS. The following are some views from participants in the group:

What the participants thoughts are about the WRAP® course . . .

“A few lines about WRAP – what I thought about it.
I thought that the WRAP course was a very concise, intentioned, a very helpful all-round course. I felt all the WRAP ‘’teachers’’ were very clear, friendly, and positive, and also helpful. It laid out excellent methods to get better.
I thoroughly enjoyed all of what I did at WRAP – especially the bit where I got to say how I feel.”

“I thought the group was really interesting.
Everyone got to work together and got to say their own state of mind.
If someone didn’t know what to do there was plenty of people there to help.
The information was very useful and will come in handy in the future.”

“The WRAP® GROUP was very enjoyable and informative. I learned a lot of things about how to improve my mental and physical health. I learned how to spot behaviour triggers and how to cope better. The group also helped with my social skills ie, working in a group and also taking time to think things through. The facilitators made you feel relaxed and able to enjoy the group they explained and answered questions very well. I would recommend the WRAP® GROUP to anyone with mental health problems.”
